All You Need To Know About The Analysis Essay: Definition, Tips, And Writing Techniques
Writing an analysis essay is not as difficult as it seems. Once you follow these tips and writing techniques you will be well on your way to completing an excellent paper…
The analysis essay contains the same introduction, body, and conclusion as any other paper you are assigned in school. But:
- When you are presenting evidence for your paper, you need to make sure that the references and the sources you use are reliable and authoritative. Students note only fail to cite their sources properly most of the time, but they also forget to be selective about the sources they use. Just because there is an internet based website that has some history or facts related to your site does not mean it is credible. You want to make sure you only use credible books, journals, or other scientific studies. Never use irrelevant sources just to fill the source requirement or outdated material. If you are searching online you can often refine or filter your search results, even for highly academic journals, to include only recent publications that have the most up to date information. Remember to avoid listing sources that you did not mention in your essay anywhere. This is technically dishonest and students often try and get away with it just to meet the minimum source requirements. Instead, if you are short on sources, you can find a highly reputable or academic source that offers background or rudimentary information on the topic and include it as a source in your introduction or background section of the paper.
- When you are writing your paper, get rid of any unnecessary filler content. Students will try and add unnecessary length or unnecessarily complicated wording to their paragraphs to fill them out and meet the word requirement, but this is only going to bring your grade down. Do not include non-essential information inside of your conclusion or introduction just to meet page requirements.
- Never plagiarize in your paper. Many students run the risk of doing this on accident because they do not recognize where they paraphrased in their notes, because they wrote a thought down, but no corresponding citation information. That is why it is imperative that as you take notes, you write down any bibliographic data if the item was paraphrased, that way you know what you came up with and what other writers came up with.
